Water Protector: Meta

Fond Du Lac, MN

Meta discusses their path to Camp Migizi and what decolonization and revolutionary community means to them. They emphasize the importance of resisting colonialism in ways that don’t include getting arrested, calling attention to accountable communities, healing trauma, and work motivated by community care. Meta also explores the state of the movement now, acknowledging the dependence of the resistance camps on donations and the need for more work to be done before the camps are able to exist outside of capitalism while also uplifting the valuable contributions that the spaces are providing in the current moment and hopes for the future. At this moment, when Line 3 construction is finally complete after a 6 year battle, Meta’s perspective is a refreshing reminder that we are in a generational struggle, the fight is far from over, and there are many ways for everyone to contribute.
